Breathing prayer life in addition to a planned purposeful prayer time each day to humbly approach Him. And, always be honest in our prayers and communication with Him. I’ve found many times I have prayed to God and later realized I didn’t say, “ but God, here’s what’s really on my heart”. He already knows, but I sometimes forget to pray for my own concerns and needs.
I'm so glad you are writing! Your wisdom is clearly from God, I can see the holy spirit at work. I'm so happy to have met you Brother. Let's encourage each other in this Substack platform and remember it is not about us, we are here just here to share the gifts of the spirit which we are given through discipline. Bless you and your work.
That is a long list, and every point is important.
I would mention one thing that doesn't add a point, but focuses them all. We cannot serve *everyone*. I believe that we have a greater responsibility to minister to those closest to us: first, our spouse; second, our children; third, our parents and siblings; fourth, our community; and finally, everyone else we can reach.
I remember someone telling how she had participated in a worthy service project in Africa. On the airplane flight home, God told her through the Spirit that He was pleased with her efforts, but that she should now go home and minister to her neighbor across the street.
I love that. I agree. When Jesus said, “love your neighbor” we can’t forget He also meant our actual neighbors and the people we’re closest to! Thanks for your comment and input.
I was talking to a catholic friend recently and she spoke of chastity. I love the concepts of purity of mind and body. Thinking of our body as a temple gives us clarity on things that are permissible and beneficial. I find that’s a helpful lens for me with food, drink, tv shows, books, and guarding my mind.
Great post as always! Just got your church and sports book!

That’s a great distinction between “praying” and “honest praying.” Both are good and needed but real growth happens with honest praying!
