God has no limits! We sometimes limit God, I have discovered.

This is so good! Great insight here. Something similar happened to me when I kept on reading to verse 12. God is so good to reveal Himself to us through His word and Spirit. Amen!

Thanks Brandon. You words remind me of what I discovered as I was drawn to this verse as my life and dreams ended at age 50, with the end of a 30 year marriage. I was truly starting life over again with nothing but a car, a low paying job, and the fellowship of my body of believers at my church. I had an empty nest and the dreams and hopes I had had for what life would be like at age 50 were quite dashed. As I meditated on Jeremiah and came to know that this book of Jeremiah was not written TO me, but FOR me, I began to better understand the character and attributes of the God in whom I trusted. He became more real to me in that season of life than I could have ever imagined. Just as He had led Israel through the twists and turns of their disobedience and unbelief, he was doing the same with me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and this good reminder of where God has brought me through my own season of unexpected life change.

Thank you for sharing Grace. The way you said, “Jeremiah was not written TO me but FOR me…” was so good. I wish I would have said it that way! Ha.

Thank you for the encouragement and so glad about God’s work in your life.

Grace, thanks for sharing. I too like how you said the book is not written to you but for you. Even if the story isn't written for us, it displays God character and the way He works in humans lives.

A scholar I discovered in 2013 is known by the quote, the Bible was written for us, but not to us. His name is Michael S Heiser, he died a little over a year ago of cancer. A loss those of us who learned from him could not understand, but his books Supernatural and Unseen Realm and many lectures & podcasts are still bringing clarity of God’s message to us in the written word.
