I hope you all have had a great week. We are all moved into our new home in NWA! It’s been a blessing so far and it’s been fun watching the girls explore the new home and try to get their bearings. Frequently, we’ll say, “Go to the kitchen!” and they’ll take off running only to stop quickly and start looking around — or they’ll try to go through every open door they see looking for the kitchen. One of the most significant blessings of parenthood is watching young minds learn. It’s actually been inspiring me to continue learning.

A Song
Closer by Hulvey
Hulvey is one of my favorite Christian rappers. I’ve had this song on repeat this week 🙏🏻🙌🏼
A Book
Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala
I read this book at a crucial time. I was becoming disillusioned with the way I was operating in my life and ministry and this book was a breath of fresh air. It opened up in my mind to believe God could do things far beyond what I thought was possible.
An Article
This article by
was fantastic. I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around God’s blessing and the nature of it. God has the right to bless whomever He would like to bless — and in Christ we have every Spiritual blessing in the Heavens (Ephesians 1) — yet in the OT we tend to see clear instructions for how to be blessed by God. This was a thoughtful and self-reflective article on the topic which helped my personal reflection on the topic. My Favorite Moments
Jackie
After a crazy few days of moving, Jackie and I were able to finally catch our breath on our back porch after bed time. The road behind our home is shut down right now so with virtually 0 cars driving by we were able to hear the birds chirping and the wind blowing through the trees. It was a peaceful and sweet moment to have with my wife after the craziness of the weekend.
Hattie
Hattie has started doing this thing right before bedtime. When we hold her with her head on our shoulder she’ll jump back just to look at us in the eyes, nod her head, then lay her head back down. I would love to know what’s going through her mind but I know it’s sweet for me and Jackie.
Priscilla
The girls and I were unpacking our book boxes the other day. They were so cute — working so hard to place them on the bookshelf. All of the sudden I hear Priscilla burst out into the most excited Veggietales song and dance I’ve ever heard. I look down only to notice the book Me, Myself, & Bob by Phil Vischer (Co-Creator of Veggietales) sitting there. For the next 5 minutes she held that book singing and dancing.
Bonus: Last night Jackie and Hattie sang a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace together right before bedtime. Priscilla and I enjoyed them leading us in worship. 🙌🏻
Week In Review
Sermon
This past Sunday I had the privilege of preaching at Atkins First Baptist Church. It’s the church my wife’s family has held their membership for decades.
I preached on Psalm 131. Here’s a link to the sermon if you’d like to watch.
