What Is Life Supposed To Be Like?
This article is a snippet from a new digital release—Exploring Life With God (Part 1).
It’s completely free here on Gumroad.
But, before we get into the article, I need to let you know something…
My wife has officially begun raising funds for her 501c3! The ministry has been called More Than Words for years, but recently she decided to convert it over to a non-profit.
Why?
Because it gives her & us the option to do two things:
Give everything (resources, videos, Bible Studies) away for free
For Jackie to be released to be a disciple-maker in our community
You can be part of the launching crew by donating here.
Thank you for your investment in us.
Now, here’s the article.
What Is Life Supposed To Be Like?
I don’t know how you feel about it, but this life seems all out of whack, doesn’t it? All around us, there’s an intense lack of peace, a growing amount of chaos, anger, depression and anxiety, lies, and confusion that seems to have no end. There’s something wrong in every corner of society. And that’s not even the real problem.
The real problem is that all of those things aren’t just happening around us, they are happening in us, too. We feel an intense lack of peace, a growing amount of chaos, anger, depression and anxiety, lies, and confusion in our own lives. And just like there’s something wrong in every corner of society, there’s something wrong in every corner of our heart and mind, too.
Life is hard.
Before we realize it we’ve found ourselves in a place of hopelessness and despair and we’re simply going through the motions – hoping to make it to the weekend so we can have a break from work.
But what if we were made for more than that? What if we were made for life not death? What if we were made for abundance not depravity? What if we were made for truth, peace, and wisdom not lies, chaos, and foolishness. What if we were made for a full and abundant life, not a lacking life.
Jesus made a statement in John chapter 10 that changes everything. It’s the type of statement that opens up into a new reality. A reality that transcends our understanding about reality and gives us hope for something better. Something new. Something full of life. He said,
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, but I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
–John 10:10, ESV
Can you imagine life? Not only life. Abundant life?
For most of us, we can’t. It’s not even on our radar. We feel the weight of the first half of that verse. Our life has been stolen from us by tragedy and hardship. Our joy has been put to death under the pressure of bills, deadlines, and toxic relationships. Our purpose has been destroyed by the weight of everyday life.
We have the tendency to read a verse like John 10:10 and think, “That would be nice…” and we leave it there and continue with our day.
Abundant life is just simply not our experience.
But let me ask you a few questions, and I want you to really pause and consider them…
What if Jesus really meant what He said? What if He’s not lying? What if He really does have a plan for you to have an abundant life?
…
Thanks for reading along.
