I contemplated sending an email this morning. It’s Christmas Day. Why would I send an email? No one is going to read it.
But then I thought about you.
You who is laying in bed this morning because you’re family is out of town or completely out of your life.
You who had your loved one pass away this year and Christmas is just another day to be sad over their passing.
You who has grown up with horrible Christmas memories and you’re just trying to figure out how to make it through the day.
So this is for you. I long for the day that no one needs an article like this one.
I want to remind you of something very important:
Jesus is the Light of the World.
I know you know that, but stick with me. There are four promises we can look to in the Bible. A promise from God is a guarantee.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”
—Genesis 1:1-3
Promise: God speaks light into the darkness
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
—John 1:4-5
Promise: God brings His Presence into the darkness
“And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.”
—Revelation 22:5
Promise: God will eliminate all darkness one day with His presence
You may feel dominated by darkness. I understand. Before you hop out of bed today ask God for a heart of hope that can believe the promises. Ask Him to help you believe.
One last promise to leave you with.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
—Romans 8:18
Promise: Your despair today is nothing in comparison with your future joy brought on by God’s glory.
I want to pray a prayer over you.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord shine His face toward you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and may the Lord give you peace. Amen.
Merry Christmas!
—Brandon
So true. That wonderful warm Light.
“I long for the day that no one needs an article like this one.”
Thank you for reflecting His light and speaking the truth of His promises.
